The Origami Crane, made of steel, started with the deconstruction of an ordinary origami paper crane used to map the form. The prototype was made using pipe cleaners to determine the dimensions. The final version of the crane was constructed from welded steel rods. Post-construction, over 1,000 metallic pipe cleaners were wrapped around the steel framework and pastel pom poms glued on.
